Blane Fonda

Blane Fonda

Blane Fonda. Best description I can cook up is a cross between M83 and Tears For Fears with a sense of humor. And a lot of Miller High Life. Late last year I helped them finish up their recently released LP Foolish Croon, but apparently they’re not resting up, as they decided to come back into the studio this month and record another brand new track, this time with myself and Sean O’Keefe (Fall Out Boy, Skybox, Company of Thieves, Gold Motel) co-producing.

The band had a great demo of the new tune already put together. Sean and I worked with them to dial in details; things like making sure there was a clear point of focus in each section, ensuring transitions from section to section worked well and that the song moved effectively through different levels of dynamic from beginning to end.  Sean (drummer/producer that he is), is brilliant at fine-tuning points of emphasis, groove, and other details within the rhythm section. I feel like I gain a level of production mastery every time I work with him. And the band responded without a hiccup to every idea or suggestion that either of us could cook up. In the end I think we collectively took a great song and made it exceptional. And drank a lot of light beer.
