Art of Excess is the name of a new project from Chicago music vets Brittany Bindrim and Jim Cookas, formerly of iScintilla. I started working with them last year on honing in on a new direction-they wanted to move away from the heavy EDM influences of iScintilla and do something different-we’re heading towards a more traditional band-type of thing featuring live drums, with influences rooted in 90s and early 00s rock and metal ranging from Smashing Pumpkins and Soundgarden to A Perfect Circle and Tool. We recorded drums, bass and some guitars at the always awesome Shirk Studios, followed by vocals and more guitars at my place and the band’s rehearsal space.
